He studied Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at the Universities of Vienna and Munich. During this time he took part in several excavations in Austria and Italy. After having finished his studies, he started to work for the urban archaeology department of the city of Vienna in 1996. He is responsible for rescue excavations all over the city. In 2004 he became the deputy head of the department. Now, apart from rescue excavations, he supports the head of the department in her daily work and in several projects such as “Roman Limes in Austria as World Heritage Site” or in the “ARGE Donauländer”, the reunion of all regions along the Danube River. His scientfic interest lies mainly on roman archaeology of the provinces, especially in the literacy of the roman provinces. He takes part in the conference and its organisation since the first time it was held in 1996.
