Margaréta MUSILOVÁ| Jana MINAROVIECH (Municipal Monument Preservation Institute Bratislava | STUDIO 727 BRATISLAVA) Abstract: Recent discoveries of Roman buildings on the Northern terrace of the Bratislava castle and in the Castle courtyard from 1st century B.C., brought new questions and challenges. Roman construction techniques were brought into the milieu of Celtic settlements of Central Europe far from the Roman Empire. The Bratislava oppidum had an excellent strategic position; it was located on the Crossroads of Amber and Danube roads. The Celts who inhabited the oppidum with the Acropolis on the top of the Castle Hill had very close relationship with the Romans before the conquest of the Central Danube region. Archaeological research on the Bratislava Castle hill was conducted in the years 2008-2010 by the Municipal Monument Preservation Institute in Bratislava and in the years 2013-2014 in cooperation with a private archaeological company VIA MAGNA s. r. o. The first constructions identified by the archaeological research performed between 2008 and 2010 were Roman type buildings I and II, it means they must have been constructed for the Celts by Roman builders. Both masonry relics, dated to the period of 50/40 – 30/20 BC were found during rescue excavations on the northern terrace of the Castle Hill. Anna SUČÍKOVÁ, Monument Board of the Slovak Republic The Monuments Board of the Slovak Republic performs a specialized state administration in the field of protection of cultural heritage. In addition to the performance of the state administration, The Monuments Board of the SR also carries out scientific-research, methodological and documentary activities. One of its specialized departments is the Department of Digitization and Graphic Documentation (ODGD). Between 2012 and 2015, the digitization of mainly large objects was selected in addition to the internal ODGD digitization the outsourcing of specialized suppliers of digitization services. From 2016 we will continue to digitize the monument fund only in the internal capacities of the Office. Several methods of digitization depend on the digitized monumental object. We use terrestrial laser scanning, digital photogrammetry, optical scanning method, digital photo. We also use standard geodetic methods and to the localization of objects technology of the Global Navigation Satellite System. The digitization of the monument fund provides a simplified capture of the real image of the monumental object and its detailed documentation. It represents source data for eventual reconstruction of damaged or destroyed monuments and is a documentary copy of the monument in time. Outputs of the presented project are digitized data of the monument fund, which serve as a basis for further accessibility of the cultural heritage. Digitization simplifies the documentation of the monument fund, enables its further research and contributes to its protection. It is the culminating cultural, information, scientific and educational institution in the field of library activity. It is a universal state-of-the-art scientific library, which provides free access to knowledge and information disseminated on all types of media. The library implements co-ordination, statistical, educational, professional and methodological tasks for libraries in the Slovak Republic. It focuses on library, information, bibliographic, scientific, cultural and educational activities The Department of Digitization in the University Library in Bratislava (https://www.ulib.sk/sk/digitalizacia-ukb/) is a development and experimental workplace for copy protection, digitization and accessibility of digitized library documents of the literary cultural heritage of the Slovak Republic through new information technologies. Department works with national affairs, participates in solving national projects and research in book culture. Digitized documents need to be further preserved, protected and made available. This is the role of the archive – The Central Data Archive (CDA). But not just objects digitized on the ULIB digitization department but also objects from other selected memory and fund institutions. The Central Data Archive (http://cda.kultury.sk/) is a trusted digital repository which mission is to ensure the reliable and long-term protection of digital objects created within the National Digitization Program. The project was supported by the European Structural Funds. The application is a complex of processes designed to store digital content for a long time. Content is stored in two geographically distant locations and in one archive repository. Twenty-five Petabyte archive is implemented in accordance with ISO 14721 and ISO 16363 in the form of a distributed OAIS architecture with two fully functional computing sites. These institutions are rarely perceived as technologically developed, inspiring and modern information centers. Yet, there are no doubts about the universality and value of art’s language. Digitization of cultural objects has advanced both in quality and quantity thanks to technological progress. Special scanners and high-end digital cameras can digitize objects of cultural heritage in its most faithful form. Ladislav DEDÍK | Jana MINAROVIECH (STUDIO 727, Bratislava) Dome of St. Martin in Bratislava is one of the most beautiful churches in Slovakia. The temple was consecratedin the year 1452. The German and Austrian builders overwhelmed the original Gothic architectural elements. The length of the triple temple is 69.37 m, the width is 22.58 m, the height of the boats is 16 m. On the interior vault worked 40 stomasons. In the 2nd half of the 15th century was build to the northern wall the Chapel of St. Anna. The tower burnt twice. Today’s image of the tower is from the year 1847. On the top there is a golden pillow with dimensions of 2 x 2 m, on which lies a gold-plated replica of the Hungarian royal crown. The crown, which resembles the ceremonial coronation, can also be found at the top of the window sill behind the main altar. Between years 1563 and 1830, 19 kings were crowned, including 10 sovereigns, one queen, and 8 royal wives. The first was crowned Maximilian II. (September 8, 1563). The only crowned queen was Maria Theresa (June 25, 1741). The list of crowned heads, though incomplete, is on the left side of the dome presbytery. Interesting is the history of bells. The original five bells of the Bratislava dome during the First World War faded into guns. Only the largest and oldest, two-tone Wedderin, one of the five most precious bells in Europe, remained on the tower. 5 new bells were donated to Bratislava by 5 countries neighboring Slovakia and were heard in November, 2000th STUDIO 727 will bring you closer to the loft in the roof of this impressive dome. Ladislav DEDÍK | Jana MINAROVIECH (STUDIO 727, Bratislava) During the years 2013-2016 a great number of buildings (medieval castles, churches and other monuments) in Slovakia were digitized. Contribution was created thanks to EU project, within the Operational program Informatization of society. Project was supported by The Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic and Government Office of Slovak Republic. The main coordinator and executor was the Monument Office of the Slovak Republic. The subcontractors of digitization work were companies: Studio 727, sro., Geodethicca, sro., iQServices, sro., Ornth sro. and others. The subject of our investigation was the most significant Slovakian historical objects. Within the digitalization project we have created 3D models of the most important Slovakian monuments, as e.g. Bojnice castle, gothic church in Spišský Štvrtok or Devin castle, where are located also artefacts from Roman period, La Tène era and middle ages. The aim of the project was to identify current technological possibilities of creation virtual presentations of real spaces. The purpose of documentation is to capture the appearance of historical buildings and historical building technologies, to keep culture heritage for next generation.
