One of the interesting contemporary ways of archaeological research is computer mapping of archaeological objects with the purpose of their space analysis. But work in this direction some times become very difficult because of impossibility to found an object well known in literature. Many of Caucasian mountains archaeological monuments (especially Koban and Alanic culture objects) were found, excavated, robed and became famous in the end of XIX – beginning of XX century. In XX century the most part of mountain population migrated to the plain and information about the situation of old relicts was forgotten. It is also difficult to find the objects opened in XX century, because of the authors made vary sketchy plans of them.
During the seasons of 2002-2004 the North-Ossetian expedition worked on fixing the geographical coordinates of well-known and new-found archaeological objects of North Ossetia. The work includes the archive materials research, questioning of inhabitants and archaeologists, decoding of aerial photos (360 photos). The coordinates of the objects fix with the help of GPS and plot on the vector map of the region. It was fixed and described 120 objects. Such a geographical-informational system can help to find the “old” archaeological objects easily. In report the results of interpretation of the aerial photos, maps of different types of objects (settlements and cemeteries) and some conclusions of the authors will be represented. The study was prepared at the support of the grants of RFH N 03.01.00061 and RFBR N 03.01.80068, N 05.06.88018.
